The baby's parents noticed the first signs of the tumor after severe anxiety, loss of appetite, vomiting and headache. The girl's mother independently contacted the City Hospital No. 2 of Astana, where they performed a CT scan of the girl's brain and revealed a volumetric formation in the chiasmatic-sellar region with spread to the cerebellar peduncles.

Considering the severity of the child's condition and the localization of the giant tumor with endo-supra-infra laterosellar growth with germination into the left lateral ventricle, with prolapse into the third ventricle, with spread to the middle cranial fossa, into the pontine-cerebellar angle on both sides with compression and deformation of the brainstem, it was decided at a consultation of doctors of JSC "NCN" to hospitalize the child in the National Center of Neurosurgery for surgical treatment.

Neurosurgeons of the Department of Pediatric Neurosurgery performed a microsurgical operation to remove a giant brain tumor using a neuronavigation system. The complexity of the operation was in the rather large size of the tumor (6.0 * 6.5 * 7.1 cm), localized in functionally significant areas of the brain, which occupied almost half of the child's brain. There were possible complications and consequences associated with the course of the disease and surgical intervention: speech, motor disorders, hearing impairment, breathing, cardiovascular system, hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke. The operation was performed by specialists in their field, who have more than 15 years of practical experience, namely: neurosurgeon of the highest qualification category, head of the pediatric neurosurgery department, professor of JSC "NCN" Dr. Gabit Olenbay and neurosurgeon Dr. Alibek Zharasov, anesthesiologist-resuscitator Dr. Bolatbek Dzhubaniyazov. The operation was carried out free of charge within the framework of the compulsory medical insurance.

The operation was successful. Now the baby feels satisfactory, was discharged with improvement and transferred for the next stage of treatment to the National Scientific Center for Maternal and Child Health.
