The National Center for Neurosurgery performs the most complex neurosurgical operations every day. One of these operations was performed on a 30-year-old man, a native of the Kyzylorda region with neurofibromatosis type 1, with a giant multinodular tumor of the cerebellopontine angle, upper cervical and occipital region.

The patient was admitted to the Neurosurgery Center with complaints of headaches, difficulty swallowing, unsteadiness of gait, hearing loss, memory loss, change in voice timbre, protruding formation in the neck on the right, as well as general weakness.

The complexity of the operation lay not only in the fact that the tumor was gigantic in size, but also in its complex anatomical location. There was a high risk of damage to the cervical and occipital region, since the tumor had grown into the skull base and fused with healthy tissue. The tumor was separated by millimeters. In addition, doctors bypassed the passing paths of vital blood vessels in the brain. It was important here not to damage these areas.

The operation lasted 12 hours, this operation is considered level 5 of complexity. Otolaryngologists of the Municipal Clinic #1 also took part during the operation. The operation was successful, the patient is preparing for discharge with an improved condition.

The operation was carried out by specialists in their field - head of the department of neurosurgery for brain pathology Dr. Nurzhan Ryskeldiev, neurosurgeon Dr. Aidos Moldabekov, Dr. Aidos Kurmanahunov, anesthesiologist Dr. Raushan Tokshekenova, neurophysiologist Dr. Saule Uteuova, otolaryngologist of the Municipal Clinic #1 Dr. Dair Rakhmetov.
